The One in the Back!
By Scholar

A short story about me in a thrift store.

Category: Short Stories
Genre: Factual

Chapter 1

It was suede. Not to tattered, but not exactly new. It was in far better condition than the ripped black cow to its left. And far better than the faded tweed to its right. It carried that new car smell. You can see the zig zag imprints of children's shoes left on its right cushion. I leaned back. It was inviting. Not to hard, but not to soft. It was the perfect thing to plop down on with some popcorn and watch tv. I sink back even further. Close my eyes. I imagine all the places it's been. All the people who've sat here. The memories that were made. I imagine the memories I could make. I stick my hand down between the cushions and pull out a 5 dollar bill. I smile to myself and get up. I make my way to the register.

The man says "I saw you enjoying our sofas. Did you make a decision as to which one you want?"

"Yes" I say. "As a matter of fact I have.

I'll take the one in the back!"

I understood you were testing sofas, why were they so cheap, and which shop takes 5 dollars in payment.Of course you were in Singapore. P.S you write descriptly well.

Haha funny thing is i just bought something from Singapore....and it was crazy cheap. But um no, I didnt use the 5 to pay for the sofa. But finding the money there was good incentive for me to buy it :) Oh and thank you very much

i liked this! I don't comment on other people's work much because, like you, I don't really know what to say to them, but this was really cool =) I tend to enjoy reading things that aren't as weighty or morbid or whatever, so this was tailored to me I think.....The reason I read it was the title though. 'The One in the Back!' made me giggle, Schuyler =P
